  12. Acetylene  is  a  weird  gas.  A
  13. large  volume  of  acetylene  at
  14. pressures  over  15  psi  is un-
  15. stable  and   can  explode  like
  16. nitro-glycerine. But as you will
  17. soon find out, the pressure in a
  18. full acetylene tank is over  200
  19. psi! The reason the tank doesn't
  20. explode,  is because the tank is
  21. first  filled  with  acetone,  a
  22. liquid.  The acetylene  is  then
  23. pumped into the acetone.  As you
  24. use the gas, it boils out of the
  25. acetone. The acetylene tank must
  26. be upright  when  used,  or  the
  27. acetone   could  flow  into  the
  28. regulator.~

  62. dust. This  step  is  considered
  63. good  practice  by some, but un-
  64. necessary  by others. You be the
  65. judge.  While  wearing  goggles,
  66. open  each   tank  valve  for  a
  67. split-second  to  blow dirt away
  68. from the opening.  This  will be
  69. loud.
